“The Working Woman's Guide to Tackling Gender Bias”

About Me

I started out like a lot of you.

An ambitious young woman determined to make a name for herself in the corporate world.

Like you, I was a daughter of the Girlboss generation. The Lean In generation. The Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office generation.

I knew it was a world built by men for men, so I conformed however I could. I hustled, pushed, and fought my way to the top come hell or high water. (I shudder at the number of times I uttered the words “blood, sweat, and tears” proudly like a badge of honor…)

I told myself absolutely nothing would get in my way. I controlled my fate! But you know what always got in my way? Gender bias.

It kept creeping its way into my career ALL THE FREAKING TIME. It showed up in big ways and in small ways. It showed up whether I was an entry-level designer or a senior director running my own global department.

Gender bias plagued me at every turn. Not only was it frustrating and isolating but it kept me in a perpetual cycle of burnout. And I wasn’t alone. Countless women in my network - whether they were mentees or peers - complained to me about the very same thing. Enough was enough.

As I was moving up in my career, I yearned for a woman who was high enough in the hierarchy that she could actually make an impact and who was bold enough to rise up and tackle these issues head-on. I never found her. Then years later, as I was regurgitating the same complaint, a friend said… “I think that’s you now, babe.” Lightbulb moment. I had spent enough years frustrated and fighting that I didn’t even realize I was now (over) qualified to be that woman. And why not me?

Suddenly it all started to make sense. Not only could my experience across numerous industries and my exposure to all kinds of female professionals help me…but so could all of the painful lessons and hurdles I was forced to overcome. Something greater could come out of my experiences.

Working women are being set up to fail in the corporate world and the most we're getting is leadership coaching and advice for growth and development. I'm here to do something about that.
