WRITERS ON WRITING

Writers on Writing is a long-running podcast about the art, craft, and business of writing. Since 2001, hosts Barbara DeMarco-Barrett and Marrie Stone have welcomed well over 1,500 authors, from debut writers to Pulitzer Prize winners, as well as literary agents and publishing professionals.

Our conversations go beyond simply talking about a guest's book. We explore how writers actually work: where ideas come from, creating characters, finding a voice, structure, revision, research, writing through obstacles, rejection, publishing, and the many decisions involved in turning an idea into a finished manuscript.

We're interested in thoughtful, candid conversations with authors and literary professionals who have something meaningful to say about writing and the creative life.

We're especially interested in guests with a new or forthcoming book, distinctive approaches to craft, unusual writing journeys, or practical insights that other writers can learn from.

Recent conversations have covered everything from building a story collection and writing speculative fiction to voice, setting, characters, suspense, the publishing process, and the lessons writers learn along the way.

Come talk with us about what happens behind the pages.
