About Me

Wendy Van Camp is the Poet Laureate for the City of Anaheim, California. Her work is influenced by cutting edge technology, astronomy, and daydreams. She is a nominated finalist for the Elgin Award, a Pushcart Prize, and for a Dwarf Stars Award. Her poems, stories, and articles have appeared in: "Star*Line", "Scifaikuest", and “Indy Author Magazine”, among many others. She is the editor of two annual poetry anthologies "Eccentric Orbits” and "Anaheim Poetry Review", and a guest editor for the SFPA's "Eye To The Telescope". She is a graduate of the Ad Astra Speculative Fiction Workshop and a member of SFWA, Codex, SFPA, and IBPA.

She has published one poetry collection and one Regency Historical novel. As an editor, she has published four "Eccentric Orbits" and two "Anaheim Poetry Review" anthologies.

Wendy has been an active panelist at science fiction conventions for the past five years. She was a featured speaker at Penguicon in 2021, and as appeared at the following science fiction conventions: WorldCon, WesterCon, Balticon, PenguiCon, CapriCon, MileHiCon, NASFiC, IASFS India and many local smaller conventions in the Southern California area. Wendy also teaches workshops and occasionally gives single presentations at these live events.

She started as in-person only. When the conventions went virtual due to the pandemic in 2020, she become the go to person to develop full poetry discussion and reading panels all over the USA at virtual speculative fiction conventions. She speaks on a variety of topics including: speculative poetry, scifaiku, writing tips, editing anthologies, putting together chapbooks, podcasting, video production and fandoms: star trek, star wars, farscape, classic science fiction and more mainly in the science fiction or fantasy book genres. Wendy also speaks at regular literary writing conferences such as "LitFest in the Dena" and "Women in Publishing Summit" as a poet laureate.

Wendy began podcasting as a semi-regular panelist on the Sci-Fi Roundtable Podcast in 2020 and later joined the regular panelist list for Con-Tinual where she speaks on either "The Panel Room", or in "Fandom". She appears as an interviewed guest on various podcasts and seeks more of the same.
