I'm a licensed professional counselor in Oregon, Illinois, New Mexico, Florida, and Ohio., author, broadcaster, and telehealth pioneer dedicated to helping people navigate trauma, adversity, resilience, and personal transformation.
Over the course of my career, I've worked with veterans, survivors of domestic violence and victims of mass shootings, human trafficking, and sexual assault and abduction. Through counseling, education, and broadcastingg, my mission has always been the same: helping people discover that their circumstances do not define their future.
In addition to my clinical work, I am the author of numerous books and audiobooks covering psychology, resilience, disability, history, culture, geography, and LGBT+ issues. My writing reflects a lifelong passion for learning. Whether exploring mental health, examining historical events, or discussing the human experience, I strive to make complex subjects accessible, engaging, and relevant.
My perspective is shaped not only by professional training but also by personal experience. Having lived with a visual disability since childhood and survived a traumatic brain injury as a young adult, I understand firsthand the challenges of adapting to change, rebuilding after setbacks, and finding strength in unexpected places.
I was also an early adopter of telehealth services, conducting thousands of virtual counseling sessions and helping expand access to mental health care long before remote services became mainstream. Serving people all over the world during the pandemic.
