“Scientist, author and product innovator exploring why skin, hair and ageing don’t follow one-size-fits-all biology and how AI could help.”
Most skin, hair, and ageing science was built around one narrow default and it shows in products that fail most of the world. I've spent my career proving that with data, then building the alternative. I hold a PhD in Applied Mathematics and researched at Cambridge, Newcastle, and Stanford, including a postdoc alongside NASA Ames. I'm founder and CEO of HexisLab, using AI and computational biology to make cosmetic and pharma R&D faster and less biased 30,000+ materials screened, 40% shorter client R&D cycles.
I also built Layla & Kays, a science-led haircare brand for textured hair, Silver winner at the 2024 Pure Beauty Awards proof the science works in real products. I wrote the Biology of Beauty trilogy: Melanin, Rooted, Ageing and took that argument to the UK Parliament's Science and Technology Committee, the House of Lords, and BBC Radio 4. I'm at my best on air pushing back on lazy assumptions in beauty, skin, and AI bring the data, get the argument.
