I'm Shruthi Rajashekar, a Senior Engineering Manager with 15+ years leading engineering teams that build the infrastructure powering enterprise cloud and AI/ML platforms.

At Broadcom (VMware), I lead the Workload Mobility engineering organization behind vMotion, Storage vMotion, and Cross-vCenter vMotion — technology thousands of enterprises rely on to move virtual machines and their data without downtime. My team's work supports billions of live migrations a year and underpins how organizations handle everything from routine host maintenance to disaster recovery without disrupting the business.

Most recently, my team solved a problem the industry had struggled with for years: moving GPU-accelerated AI workloads between physical hosts while they're still running, without the multi-minute freezes that used to make this impractical at scale. We brought that "stun time" down from over 100 seconds to about 21 seconds for large multi-GPU configurations — work that's now shipping in VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 and was called out by CRN as one of the platform's most notable innovations.

Earlier in my career, I helped build VM Service, an open-source project that lets Kubernetes and traditional virtual machines run under a single control plane, and Instant Clone, a feature that provisions live virtual machines in seconds instead of minutes.

I love talking about what it actually takes to make GPU and AI infrastructure resilient at enterprise scale, how virtualization and Kubernetes are converging rather than competing, and what it's like leading engineering teams through multi-year technical bets that reshape how an entire industry operates. I bring a builder's perspective, grounded in production systems relied on by hundreds of thousands of customers, to conversations about cloud infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, and engineering leadership.
