“The three most important words I’ve learned about writing are: make it interesting. Let’s do the same for your audience!”

About Me

I really don’t like talking about myself, but I know readers like to make a connection between the author and the books they read. So, I thought I’d try and find a way to make it easy for me… I’m a fiction writer that has mood swings between writing something funny and something dark. I’ve always felt there was a connection between comedy and tragedy.

Because I was the fat kid all through school who had few friends, I developed creativity as a coping skill, which drove me to want to create stories. I was the one who made jokes to get attention, developing my comedic skills, which ties me to the comedy side of things.

Growing up on a small farm in Wisconsin to blue collar parents who worked very hard to put food on the table, is the reason why I’m also tied to blue collar characters and tragedy.

I've had millions of jobs before I became an author, everything from a truck driver to a student loan advisor. And having all those jobs taught me two very important things: I’m great at writing and suck at all other occupations.

My book Speedfitters takes place in Chicago in the year 2048. Speedfitters is a company that employs Parts Reclamation Agents, who arrive at an accident scene before an ambulance and decide if a victim’s limbs are reattached based on one’s insurance. Basically, if your insurance sucks, your parts are sold off and replaced with Speedfitters prosthetics.

And, I’d say one of the most important parts of Speedfitters is the defining of working-class struggles in the future, which also challenged me to imagine what AI's affects might be.

These are conversations we all should be having, not to mention how scared sh&*less everyone is about the idea of being replaced by some metal robot with red laser-beam eyes.

I’m not new to the world of being interesting. So, let’s talk!
