“Marine Combat Correspondent. UofM PhD in Literature. Chief of Staff at Tech Consultancy. 2x Ironman. 2x 100-mile finisher. Sober. Muslim.”
I'm a Marine Corps Combat Correspondent turned Chief of Staff — I served as a military journalist, then went on to a PhD in Literature at the University of Michigan, where my dissertation examined war as metaphor: how the language of war functions and what work it's doing when we reach for it. Now I run the non-engineering side of a small tech consultancy: proposals, client relationships, operations, the stuff that keeps a company from falling apart.
Aside from the above, I'm a 2x Ironman finisher and 2x 100-mile finisher. I'm sober and Muslim, the former came before the latter, and each shapes how I think about endurance, discipline, and why I keep signing up for more.
I like getting into the weeds, the deep end. I prefer tough love and bare truth. I've had a colorful life that lends itself to good, unique conversation. In the end, I hope to inspire others to be better.
