“Rev. Dr. Robin Blair: Media Literacy Is Spiritual Care A fresh Christian conversation about faith, families, and digital culture.”
Media Literacy Is Spiritual Care
Hello! I’m Rev. Dr. Robin Blair—an ordained United Methodist Elder, hospital chaplain, children’s media producer, speaker, author, and spiritual coach.
For most of my career, I have lived in two worlds that rarely meet: twenty years in children’s media and another twenty years in parish ministry and hospital chaplaincy. Those experiences led me to one conviction that has become the heart of my work:
Media literacy is one of today’s most important forms of spiritual care.
Children are growing up in a world where stories, screens, advertising, influencers, and algorithms quietly shape identity, relationships, values, and beliefs. Parents know something is changing, but many feel overwhelmed and unsure how to respond without creating more conflict.
I believe there is another way.
I developed The Listening Compass™, a Christian framework that helps parents, grandparents, educators, and church leaders listen first—to God, to themselves, and to the children in their care. When we begin with listening, conversations replace arguments, trust grows, and faith becomes something families practice together.
I don’t believe technology is the enemy. Media is one of the most powerful tools for communication the world has ever known. My work helps people engage it with wisdom, discernment, and hope rather than fear.
Whether speaking from my experience as a pastor, chaplain, media producer, or coach, I enjoy practical conversations that help listeners discover how digital culture can become an opportunity for deeper faith and stronger relationships.
Some topics we might explore include:
At the center of everything I do is one simple conviction:
Love begins with listening.
I’d be honored to join your podcast for a thoughtful, practical, and hope-filled conversation.
