“Curious, accomplished woman who loves books, meaningful conversation, travel, and discovering the fascinating stories behind people”
I’m a South African-born American author, educator, journalist, and presenter who has spent a lifetime surrounded by books, ideas, people, and fascinating stories.
Writing has been part of my life since adolescence, when I began publishing articles in South African newspapers. I went on to become the author of six traditionally published books, including Inside Apartheid and Liv’s Secrets, and I continue to write fiction today. I also spent nearly three decades teaching English, literature, and philosophy at Milton Academy in Massachusetts and have presented programs internationally on personality psychology.
My life has taken me into many different worlds. I have traveled extensively, been deeply involved in South African politics and the anti-apartheid movement, served as a public representative on the Johannesburg City Council, and founded and led nonprofit organizations in both South Africa and the United States. I have had the privilege of meeting people from remarkably different backgrounds, including journalists, diplomats, activists, educators, and community leaders.
Today, I live in southwest Florida and continue to write, review books, learn, and stay engaged with the world around me. I’m naturally curious and enjoy thoughtful conversation, literature, history, travel, culture, and discovering what makes people tick. I believe the best conversations are the ones where both people leave having learned something new—and perhaps laughed along the way.
