Richard Fassam-Wright is a British author and former senior diplomat with nearly 40 years of experience in the European Union and the United Nations, specializing in foreign policy, security, and humanitarian affairs.
His debut novel, A Moscow Awakening (2022), is a historical crime-thriller set in Cold War Moscow drawn directly from his own experiences as a postgraduate student in the USSR in 1975/76 and as a European Commission diplomat in Moscow from 2000 to 2004. The result is a rare combination: literary fiction grounded in lived geopolitical reality.
A graduate of Cambridge and Glasgow Universities, Richard was also a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University's Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs in 2010/11. He has participated in international Election Observation Missions, including in Ukraine in 2019.
His second book, The Triangle of Death, explores the lives of three British recruits to the Palestine Police Force during the volatile 1936–39 period of the British Mandate.
