R. Bruce Stock is a Canadian veteran, communications professional and author whose life has taken him from the gold mines of Timmins, Ontario to the halls of Rideau Hall, the battlefields of Bosnia and the pages of five published books.
He served as Aide-de-Camp to Governor General Georges Vanier from 1964 to 1966, standing on duty at Parliament Hill on February 15 1965 when Canada's new flag was inaugurated for the first time. He deployed to Bosnia in 1993 as a Public Affairs Officer with Canadian peacekeepers, directing a media team that produced content seen by 2.3 million Canadians on Hockey Night in Canada. He later returned to Bosnia with the UN International Police Task Force after the Dayton Accord.
Back in Canada he earned his APR accreditation, was inducted into the College of Fellows of the Canadian Public Relations Society in 2010 and the McMaster University Alumni Gallery in 2022.
His debut baseball novel Switch Pitcher asks the question no one in the history of Major League Baseball has ever answered — why has no one trained a fully ambidextrous pitcher from birth? His forthcoming novel The Wave Guy tells the story of a Navajo raised in Canada who becomes a super car salesman, invents a civic goodwill program called The Community Wave and wins the 2028 U.S. Presidential election.
He is a natural storyteller with sixty years of live media experience, having briefed Dan Rather in Bosnia and entertained Prime Minister Lester Pearson at Rideau Hall. He plays bongos on weekends. His friends call him Loose Bruce.
