About Me

People don’t know what they don’t know,

So let’s teach each other.

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s as a visually impaired person was tough. Tech was nowhere near what it is today. Classrooms had chalk boards and overhead projectors, not chromebooks and smart boards. People didn’t tap their phones to pay for groceries, they wrote checks. Heck, home computers were barely a thing and if you were on the internet it was via dial-up, talk about laggy.

Today, no matter what daily task you want to accomplish you will likely use the web to do it. So, tech has made our lives easier, right? Well, not quite for everyone. At least not as much as it should. Ensuring websites and mobile apps are built with accessibility in mind is, well, still laggy.

Do you know what digital accessibility is? Does it sound complicated? Or maybe a topic to tip toe around. Think again! I want to show you how easy it is to make a website work for everyone, and explore the benefits it can have on a brand’s reputation and bottom line.

As a web designer and accessibility specialist, I am dedicated to ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can access and enjoy the online world. My mission is to help businesses and designers create inclusive digital experiences. I bring a unique perspective to the table, as a legally blind person needing to navigate the web, both personally and professionally.

As a guest on your podcast, I can share practical insights and actionable tips on how to make websites and digital content more accessible, engaging, and welcoming to all users. In order to do this, we need to make it a common practice to discuss accessibility, the people and disabilities affected by inaccessibility, and how to actually correct digital content, specifically in a way that the average person can understand.

Some things we could discuss:

  • What is digital accessibility and why is it important.
  • The business case for accessibility: ROI and brand reputation.
  • WCAG guidelines: A beginner's guide.
  • Common accessibility myths debunked.
  • Accessibility for different disabilities: Visual, auditory, motor, cognitive.
  • The most common accessibility issues every website has.
  • Mobile Accessibility.
  • Accessibility Tools and Resources.
  • Finding and hiring accessibility professionals.
  • Accessibility for Specific Content Types.
  • Making social media content accessible..
  • Making online learning accessible for all learners.
  • Creating accessible promotional materials, email campaigns and infographics.
