Mehdi Akbary is 48 years old and live in Toronto with his wife and 11-year-old daughter. His 19-year-old daughter is on a golf scholarship in University of Arkansas.
Mehdi Akbary was born in central Afghanistan and was pronounced paralyzed from waist down. Since people had no access to a doctor, nor his parents could afford one even if they did, his fate was sealed. But for Mehdi, he wanted to know. But everything changed when he accidently cut his index finger. The cut made him realize that there was something inside him who could help him walk.
While trying to escape the war, Mehdi lost seven members of my family, including his mother when he was 11 years old. Depressed and lonely, he contemplated taking his own life, but luckily didn’t find the courage to act. At the age of 11 and as a refugee with no money nor documents in Pakistan, he decided to travel the world. Despite being ridiculed and lack of support, he took his first overseas trip when he was sixteen.
He settled in Toronto Canada in 1994. Since he didn’t have any formal education, the only job he could do was general labour which he believed he could do better. He found business to be the best option. With no business experience and only $2.50 to his name, all he had to rely on was the belief that if he could teach his legs how to walk, he could do anything. He bought his first business for $20,000 in 1995 and sold it for $90,000 nine months later. For the next decade he flipped businesses and made millions.
Since making money was never a mission for Mehdi, he started searching for life somewhere else and found it in helping the most vulnerable members of society, children, by building schools in Afghanistan; which he’s actively perusing today.
He put his life experience in books, BREAKING FREE and 5 LAWS OF INNER CHANGE.
