“Bold and not afraid to speak her mind, Megan is a Canadian small biz entrepreneur and vocal advocate for shopping local.”
I went to business school (I dropped out, #sorrynotsorry); I worked for Dairy Queen for sixteen years; I ran entire retirement homes and reached the peak of my career by the age of 25. So what was next? Obviously starting a boutique marketing business and opening a retail store with absolutely no retail experience – makes sense, right?
I am known for taking risks and winging it – if you’re wanting a business loan from the bank, I do not recommend this route for your business as they probably will not approve you, but it seems to be working for me – so far. I give no BS advice and I am going to tell you how it is, so I’m sorry in advance if I crush some dreams or hurt your business feelings, but this is my disclaimer, k thanks.
With no work experience in retail, I took the plunge to open The Local Space - a retail destination dedicated to supplying the community with the opportunity to support local brands built by the families right in their neighbourhoods, and across the country.
Whether hanging out at a local brewery, chatting it up on IG stories or speaking on a panel for Women in Business, I'm going to tell it how it is; Always outspoken and transparent about the reality of running a small business, from shipping costs to sales.
