Matt Weingast

I’m a U.S. Army combat veteran and former Fortune 500 General Counsel who has spent a career leading through complex, high-stakes environments—from combat deployments to boardrooms and executive decision-making. Having served at both the lowest tactical levels and in senior executive roles in combat and in business, I bring a perspective shaped across the full spectrum of leadership.

My work today focuses on helping organizations navigate leadership, culture, and risk, which is another aspect of how I have observed leadership and problem solving form a unique and critical perspective. But, a significant part of my perspective comes from a different place. Much of my songwriting through GarryOwen Lyrics draws from reflections written during deployments and periods of transition—experiences that were set aside for years and only later revisited, processed, and ultimately turned into songs. For me, it has always been about the journey, not what is won or achieved.

That journey—from lived experience to reflection to expression—shapes how I approach conversations about leadership, identity, and meaning. I tend to bring grounded, real-world perspectives that resonate with audiences navigating change, pressure, and second acts.
