“I'm a former rocker turned financial planner, helping BigLaw attorneys take control of their finances. We cut through the b.s.!”
I spent the first 14 years of my career working for large asset managers that package investment funds for people to invest in, typically through a financial advisor. I saw the "belly of the beast", so-to-speak, and set out to form my own investment advisory firm that would do right by my clients. Most people have no idea what's going on underneath the surface in their investments, including the fees they are paying.
While initially trying to focus my efforts on the "HENRY" demographic (High Earner, Not Rich Yet), I started to see an acute need for help within the "BigLaw" community, due to the idiosyncrasies of that particular career. On a personal level, my wife is a BigLaw attorney and I've been with her nearly from the beginning, so I've seen it all in my own household as well.
I wanted to form a firm whose vibe is relaxed and confident, as opposed to stuffy and condescending. I named it Concert Financial Planning for a few reasons:
1) It aligns with my personality and interests (I'm a rock guitar player).
2) There is an easy analogy between "financial planning" and putting on a concert - you need the full band working together as a cohesive unit, as opposed to all of the different aspects of your financial life living in silos.
3) The acronym, CFP, is a double entendre for the Certified Financial Planner credential, which is one thing people should look for when hiring an advisor.
