“Senior Data Engineer | 16+ Years Building Petabyte-Scale Streaming, IoT & Advertising Data Platforms | Spark, Kafka, Flink, AWS”
I've spent 16+ years building the data systems that sit underneath products people use every day: streaming platforms, home energy reports, and usage-based car insurance.
Today I'm a Senior Data Engineer at Amazon, working on distributed pipelines and experimentation infrastructure that process petabyte-scale streaming and advertising telemetry, and that supported Prime Video advertising launches across Europe, Asia-Pacific, India, Japan, and Mexico. Before that, at Oracle, I helped modernize the Opower energy analytics platform, which turns smart-meter readings from millions of households into personalized efficiency insights. At Farmers Insurance, I built the telematics pipelines behind driver-safety scoring and smartphone crash detection.
My toolkit is Spark, Kafka, Flink, Python, Java, and AWS, but what I most enjoy talking about is the harder stuff: why data pipelines fail silently, how to run A/B tests you can actually trust, and how to modernize a legacy stack without breaking the business.
I hold a Master's in Computer Science in Data Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and I'm an AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Data Analytics Specialist.
I'm a good guest because I translate deep technical work into plain language, with stories from three very different industries.
