“I have a daily webseries focused on highlighting Queer and BIPOC Country, Bluegrass, & Americana Artists, creating a safe place for all.”
I have featured almost 1000 artists who are defying the odds. These artists have been kind to me on my own journey of creative freedom, and creating a resource to fully showcase the true diversity within country music, and help stave off the gatekeeping that prevents Country music from being embracing its full potential. I’m just a regular guy from Portland, OR who grew up in Fresno with a very diverse family who all listened to country music. I noticed at a young age that I didn’t see the level of diversity showcased back at me.
Many of these artists have treated me with extraordinary kindness along the way, helping build a web of diverse talent that spans the globe. From country music in Congolese, Vietnamese, Swedish, Spanish, Japanese, French, English, and more indigenous languages than I can name to Queer and Trans artists who bring their own viewpoints to a genre who’d rather forget they existed, the genre has began to catapult in popularity thanks to musicians who reflect the global culture of blue collar life.
My goal has always been to simply highlight these courageous voices who know their hill is steeper than their cis, straight, white counterparts. They deserve the recognition, and because of that, I have become somewhat of an expert on the growing queer and BIPOC country community.
