“300+ aircraft carrier landings, then Google and Meta. Now an executive coach and speaker on leading through uncertainty in the age of AI.”
I spent the first part of my career landing S-3B Vikings on aircraft carriers, 300+ times, 99 of them at night. I was one of the first women to deploy with a combat aviation squadron and the first woman Air Wing-qualified Landing Signal Officer, which means I stood on the back of the ship and talked other pilots down when the deck was pitching and the fuel was low.
Then I earned my MBA at Wharton, spent two decades in tech, including seven years leading teams at Google and Meta and left the corporate world in 2019 when I was burnt out. I wrote and performed a one-woman show about my experiences as one of the first women flying jets on an aircraft carrier, and I performed it off-Broadway and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I just finished a Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative fellowship researching courageous leadership in an age of AI and rapid change.
Impressive, perhaps, butI've also been laid off, fired, divorced, and shut down a startup when the money ran out.
Today I coach C-level executives and founders, teach in HBS's OPM program, and provide keynote talks on leading through change and uncertainty. On your show, I can talk about leading when the plan falls apart, making decisions with incomplete information, failing in public and recovering, and why fear of not being enough runs more leadership decisions than anyone admits. I have plenty of navy sea stories to share, too.
