“Child Moral Development Trilogy How to develop perseverance, compassion and vision in a child”
I was a elementary teacher in Modesto California for 27 years. The area I taught in was surrounded be all the major drug gangs. I created a chess program for my students and took them to over 200 tournaments and 14 national chess championships. Many students used chess to become first generation college graduates.
After I retired I moved to Central America and lived in Panama and Costa Rica. I continued to teach chess and during Covid in Boquete Panama I had a chance to write some books and get them illustrated. There is "The Good War" about a boy who wears dresses to school and it great at basketball, "The Good War" which is a story about an African Americans family struggle to deal with racism in schools in the late 1970's and "The Little Boy who Cried Wolf: The Complete Story" which is a dark political allegory which deals with what happens when a child grows up and only hears the voices of how to manipulate people by fear and only cares about money. (The title will be changed to "The Little Boy who Cried 'Hoax' (Wolf)" soon.
I have moved back to the states and live in San Antonio and do some public speaking and book readings. I am interested in sharing stories about how children succeed and how to help them grow into caring human beings who can overcome adversity.
I am a single dad with 3 adopted children from Guatemala .
