“I cured my daughter from 'severe autism' by not listening to doctors and now I'm on a mission to change the diagnosis process.”
I spent years fighting through a broken diagnosis system to get my daughter properly identified with APDS, a serious immunodeficiency that was initially misdiagnosed as autism. When something didn't add up, I pushed. Doctors kept recommending therapy instead of looking deeper. I went through doctor after doctor, year after year, until finally someone actually listened and ran the right tests. That experience cracked something open in me. I realized the system doesn't just fail occasionally—it fails systematically, and it fails hardest for the people who need it most. Parents get dismissed. Kids don't get answers. Conditions stay hidden until they're catastrophic. That can't be the standard. So I'm going back to school to become a PA. I'm not doing this to work within the system as it exists. I'm doing it to change it from the inside, to be the doctor who actually listens, who digs deeper, who advocates for kids when their parents are fighting alone. I want to build better diagnostic processes and help other families get answers instead of dismissals.
