Joyce is an engineer by trade and leader by nature. Growing up, she refused to accept that “girls don’t do math” and kids from her small hometown don’t pursue college degrees.
Earning her B.S. in computer science from Texas A&M University as a first-generation student, she then went on to become one of the first women to rise to the executive ranks at BMC Software, a $1 billion enterprise company.
Using experience she gained from that company, Joyce became CEO of the venture-based startup Pinion Software. She successfully navigated the company through the turbulence of the 2001 tech bust, raising over $21 million in funding over six years and exiting with a sale.
Joyce is now the CEO and co-founder of Growth Acceleration Partners (GAP), a strategic technology solutions partner and a leader in digital transformation consulting, helping companies build a detailed roadmap to their desired future state. Bootstrapped from the beginning, GAP has emerged as one of the fastest-growing companies in the technology consulting space with more than 500 employees in 18 countries, in just 15 years. Additionally, more than 30% of GAP’s engineers are women, and women comprise more than half of the executive team.
A sought-after speaker on leadership and women in business, Joyce is active with the Women Presidents Organization, HiPower and Springboard Enterprises, and has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations. She also proudly mentors other CEOs and first-time entrepreneurs.
She has won several prestigious industry awards, including the Executive Leadership Award and A-List award from the Austin Chamber of Commerce; the Profiles in Power award from the Austin Business Journal; and Stevie Awards for Management Team of the Year and Achievement in Developing and Promoting Women. She is on the Board of Directors for the Austin Chamber of Commerce and chairs their Global Tech and Innovation Committee.
