Air Traffic Controller, business owner and consultant. My experience working across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean has resulted in some interesting engagements. Based in the UK, I started my own consultancy and subsequently engaged in some interesting ventures looking at airspace solutions related to capacity enhancement and easing delays.
My most interesting work was as program manager for the enhanced development of the Qatar airspace in preparation for the FIFA World Cup event in 2022. This resulted in significant savings for Qatar Airlines with no delays attributed to the influx of flights during the event.
I have written two books, the first is reclaiming the Skies. It discusses the current challenges to airspace congestion and who should own the problem, Air Traffic Control or the Airlines. It then delves into the concept I developed called the Airline Flight Optimisation System (AFOS), for which I was shortlisted in the 2026 CANSO awards for Seamless Skies - missing out to NASA who won the award.
The 2nd book, From control to Cognition considers to evolution of technology in Air Traffic Control. It looks at the evolution of ATC over the years with my own experience as a Controller and manager with a view of what future technologies hold, what impact will artificial intelligence play?
Both books are aimed at encouraging debate, I certainly do not have the answers but serious debate is needed around these topics.
