Jana Burson

Jana Harp Burson is a social entrepreneur whose calling led her to work among the poor and oppressed in seven countries—Guatemala, Peru, Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Mauritania, and France. She spent seven years building a jewelry business for women in Afghanistan fifteen years leading the 501(c)(3) organization she founded to help Afghan women and girls through business ventures and educational sponsorships.

She spearheaded a rescue effort that helped 262 Afghans get out of Afghanistan to safety following the 2021 Taliban-takeover.

She holds degrees in Psychology, Counseling (MA), and Business (MBA), is a Regent University World Changer (2011), the winner of South Carolina's Palmetto Center for Women's TWIN Award (2016), and a contributor to the faith-based South Carolina magazine Living Real.

She ministers to refugees in the U.S. and remotely to women and children in crisis in Afghanistan. She's a life coach who focuses on helping others fulfill their God-sized dreams and a speaker who inspires others to take risks to fulfill their purpose on earth to right injustices and meet the needs of the poor and oppressed.

All book proceeds fund the rescue and resettlement of Afghan families in crisis, primarily households headed by women who’ve been abused or abandoned.

Her call is inspired by Isaiah 58: 5-7. (NIV):

“Is this not the fast that I have chosen:

To loose the bonds of wickedness,

To undo the heavy burdens,

To let the oppressed go free,

And that you break every yoke?

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,

And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;

When you see the naked, that you cover him,

And not hide yourself from your own flesh?”

She lives in Georgia with her husband and Great Dane, Ellie.
