“For 3 decades, I've run a borderless, location independent business at exec level while calling 13 countries home.”
The Executive Nomad:
“For thirty years, I’ve built and run executive level businesses without belonging to an office, a city, or even a country. Now I’m challenging the idea that experienced professionals need a corporation to fund their lives”...
Before 'Digital Nomads' were even a thing, Jamie Sylvian, Founder of the Executive Nomad was travelling the globe, working at executive level with Billion Dollar companies and co-founding a business that sold for £210m - all while calling 13 countries home. Swapping an office and a job tile for a laptop and a passport.
Today, he helps experienced professionals extract the expertise buried inside their corporate careers and turn it into flexible, location independent businesses. His message to your audience is simple: "your employer may own your job, but it does not own your experience. and that is your key to total location and income freedom.
The Story
For more than three decades, he has built businesses and worked with blue chip boards, billion dollar gaming companies, venture capital, private equity and even members of the British Royal Family.
He did it without accepting that serious work required a permanent desk, office, town or even country.
While living in southern Spain, Jamie co founded a London marketing business that became Uswitch.com, a UK household name later sold for £210 million.
His routine was unconventional, but effective.
London from Monday to Thursday. Spain every weekend.
Since then, Jamie has called 13 countries home, building businesses and advising clients from wherever he happened to be living. His office has been a laptop, a telephone and, once technology finally caught up, a camera.
Today, Jamie is building Executive Nomad, a new category for experienced professionals who want meaningful work without surrendering control of their lives to a corporation.
The Philosophy
Work where you are valued. Live where you are inspired.
Jamie believes nobody past the age of 40 should have to rely entirely upon a corporation to pay their salary and their bills. By that point, they already possess the skills, judgement, knowledge and pattern recognition needed to create something of their own.
The problem is that nobody has shown them how.
Corporations are designed to keep people attached. The title, salary, team, budget, perks and benefits all encourage loyalty until the day the company decides that loyalty is no longer required.
That is a painfully one sided deal.
The company may own the title. It may own the budget, the team and the decisions.
But it does not own your experience.
It does not own what you learned, the problems you solved, the mistakes you survived or the judgement you developed along the way.
Jamie helps experienced professionals decode that value, turn it into a flexible business and organise their work, lifestyle and location around the life they have earned.
He speaks candidly about escaping corporate dependency, rebuilding professional identity, creating income from experience, living across borders and why retirement is an increasingly outdated answer to a much more interesting question.
Jamie is not interested in helping people climb another ladder.
He wants them to realise they no longer need one.
Jamie brings strong opinions, real stories and more than thirty years of lived experience to every conversation. He is comfortable challenging conventional thinking, answering difficult questions and giving audiences something useful to do next.
He does not arrive with rehearsed corporate soundbites.
He arrives ready for a proper conversation.
Executive Nomad helps professionals turn career experience into a location independent consulting, coaching, or advisory business.
