In February of 2021, while driving home one evening, Jamie came across a horrible accident scene. A Jeep had rolled over several times and she jumped out to render aid. After tending to two small children and their caretaker, Jamie walked around to the front of the vehicle. A moment later, a car came down the highway and crashed into the Jeep, instantly crushing Jamie. Jamie lost her leg in addition to suffering multiple other critical injuries.
In true Jamie-fashion, she prevailed with her trademark "spitfire limitless" mindset. While in the hospital amidst multiple surgeries, she declared her intention to become a competitive snowboarder. She was back in the gym the day she was released from ICU. Less than a year after her accident, on her 32nd birthday, she went snowboarding in Park City, Utah. Now, almost two years later, she lives in Park City full-time while she trains with the National Ability Center and a development group of Paralympic snowboarding hopefuls who have their sights set on the 2026 Winter Paralympics in Italy
Blanek admits she could have given up. She could have allowed herself to become a victim, spending time feeling sorry for herself, but instead she’s decided not to spend another day of what she now knows is a fragile life, focused on negative thoughts.
“I’m in charge of my narrative,” Blanek said. “I get to decide how I’m going to look at it.” She’s chosen to be what she calls “healthy selfish” and focused on her mental health.
Jamie summoned her faith, courage and conviction to move forward and has inspired thousands along her journey. She is an inspirational influencer who overcame great adversity and is using her message to inspire and empower. Her unique life story and experiences have taught her valuable lessons that she shares with her audience. Through her speeches and appearances, Jamie helps people find their purpose, overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
In addition to sharing her message through her speaking and appearances, Jamie is training with the goal to join Team USA in the 2026 Winter Olympics as a Paralympian Snowboarder.
“That’s the only thing I can think about is Italy 2026,” she said. “I tell everyone, I’m training for the Paralympics, I’m training for the Paralympics. I am. I have achieved absolutely every single goal that I’ve set for myself since my accident."
