“Songwriter exploring crisis, collapse, courage, resilience & hard truths through music | Creator of the album Through the Ruins”
I’m a songwriter and recording artist working under the name Forlorn Skier. My music lives in the space between country, dark folk, Americana, and storytelling songwriting.
My debut album, Through the Ruins, explores what happens when systems fail, freedoms quietly disappear, and ordinary people are left to navigate the consequences.
The songs deal with energy shortages, broken promises, propaganda, financial pressure, and the quiet courage it takes to keep going. Rather than offering easy answers, I try to write honestly about the emotional and human cost of the times we’re living through — the longing for what was lost, the weight of warnings that went unheeded, and the small acts of resilience that still matter.
I’m currently working on a second album that continues this journey, with songs about programmable money, data centers, unwinnable wars, and the decision to stand against darkness even when it’s unpopular.
I love talking about the creative process, the real-world events that shape the music, and why storytelling still matters in a noisy world. I’m comfortable in both deeper cultural conversations and more personal discussions about songwriting, independent music, and staying grounded while making art that confronts difficult realities.
We can also talk about the oil crisis, inflation, the war against self-employed, small businesses and family farms, prepping, small town life, why government cannot provide the solutions, and how bad I think it could get.
If you’re looking for a guest who brings thoughtful perspective, lived creative experience, and a calm but clear voice on the state of things, I’d be glad to connect.
