I’m George Wesley Ellington, a U.S. Air Force veteran, former Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy, and author of FORSAKEN: A Lawman’s Fall, Faith, and Redemption.
For more than thirteen years, I served in one of the nation’s largest sheriff’s offices, working patrol, inmate processing, gang investigations, and other assignments. My career ended after a federal prosecution that changed every aspect of my life. I lost my profession, my reputation, and my freedom. Those experiences ultimately became the foundation for a journey of faith, perseverance, and rebuilding.
Today, I enjoy thoughtful conversations about the realities of law enforcement, leadership under pressure, the criminal justice system, life after incarceration, resilience, mental health, PTSD, forgiveness, and the hope that people can rebuild their lives after devastating setbacks. My goal isn’t to sensationalize my past but to offer an honest perspective on what it means to lose everything, confront difficult circumstances, and find purpose again.
