My wife Meagan and I lost our 17 year old son Garrett to suicide 13 years ago. There were no signs. He was well adjusted, popular, ambitious and driven and we had no idea what he was carrying.
In the years since we have dedicated ourselves to understanding what actually helps teenagers feel safe enough to open up to their parents before crisis hits. We developed the Safe Harbor Method, a practical framework for building the kind of trust and communication with your teenager that keeps them talking even when life gets hard.
I bring a perspective that no therapist or parenting expert can offer, the lived experience of a father who has been through the worst and chose to turn that loss into something that could protect other families.
