About Me

Dustin Morrow is an award-winning filmmaker, bestselling author, programmer and media artist. His work frequently explores the relationship between music and the moving image; intersections of traditional cinema and emerging media; the actor-director relationship; and genre filmmaking. He was born and raised in western Illinois, and received his MFA from the Department of Cinematic Arts at the University of Iowa. He is currently a tenured professor in the School of Film at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, where he teaches courses in film production and film studies. He previously taught at Temple University, Monmouth College, and the University of Iowa. He has led film education programs in Dublin, London, and New York City. He is the founding Director of the Portland Music Video Festival, and he has received grants for his work totaling more than half a million dollars.

He is the author of the industry-standard textbook "Producing for TV and Emerging Media" and the book "Kathleen Turner on Acting: Conversations About Film, Television and Theater", which he co-wrote with the legendary actress. He directed the narrative podcast series "Short of Breath" and produced and hosted the TV series "Film Versus Film". Prof. Morrow has directed more than 30 films. His latest feature film is the suspense-thriller "Black Pool", which was shot in Ireland and the U.S.
