About Me

I have learned so much as a healthcare management professional over the course of my career and as a patient with a chronic illness. During my recovery after a stem cell transplant, I created a new framework for empowering people to communicate better with doctors. This framework addresses the complexities that people face communicating with doctors, whether it is for annual physicals or frequent monitoring by multiple specialists. Understanding the skills and tools needed, people can then actively participate in their care and in shared decision-making with their doctors. This information is not currently offered by health insurers, managed care companies or even by most health care providers. This is a consumer-centric, patient-centered, easy-to-understand framework for communicating better with doctors. It is a transformational approach to helping people be more engaged in their care and have better health outcomes. I hold a Master of Health Services Administration degree from the University of Michigan's School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. I am a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. I also serve as a volunteer advisor with the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network, a member of the 2025 Journal of Patient Experience Editorial Review Board, and a peer reviewer for the Journal of Healthcare Management. I post content on this subject weekly on Linkedin.
