I'm Dana Rodney. I started writing after two homes were lost to California wildfires in 2017 and 2020. That ordeal ignited a concern about the climate crisis and wildlife extinction. My debut novel, The Last Polar Bear, takes the reader on a riveting journey of the near-future from the perspectives of the last polar bear and a female Inuit scientist, narrated by the voice of the earth.
Most of what I read about climate change is either too statistics-laden or grimly apocalyptic. My novel is unique in that it takes us on a visceral, yet lyrically-written adventure to the Arctic's beauty, wildlife, and people, in a factual foretelling of our near future.
