“Agency CEO with 20+ years building sites for government, higher ed & nonprofits. Strong, specific takes. No buzzwords, no pitch.”
I'm Dan Moriarty, CEO of Electric Citizen. I've been designing for the web since 1998 and running my own agency since 2012, focused almost entirely on government, higher education, and nonprofits. These are some of the hardest websites to get right — big audiences, real missions, and a lot of internal politics getting in the way.
I have strong, specific opinions about why many of these sites fail the people they're supposed to serve. I talk about building for end users instead of internal stakeholders, why homepages fill up with the wrong content, how large sites rot without governance, and why accessibility is a moral choice before it's a legal one.
What I bring as a guest: real stories, specific examples, no buzzwords, no sales pitch. I'm comfortable disagreeing and happy to be disagreed with. I'll show up prepared, on time, with good audio, and I'll promote the episode to my network when it airs.
Not a fit for fear-based content, hustle culture, or shows that want me to pitch my agency. I'm here to share what I've learned, not to sell.
