“Wilson and Associates Coaching and Consulting is a Black-owned, woman-led firm that partners with organizations to build thriving cultures”
After years in the public, private, and government sectors, working to dismantle inequities through policy and programs, I kept noticing a troubling pattern: leaders and teams were doing powerful work for their missions, but inside those same organizations, well-being, dignity, respect, trust, and psychological safety were often sacrificed.
I thought: Does it have to be this way?
That question shifted my path.
In 2008, I founded Wilson and Associates Coaching and Consulting to explore a new way of leading and working—one that put equity, culture, and care at the center.
Since then, I’ve spent nearly two decades helping leaders and organizations answer those same questions for themselves. Along the way, I created frameworks like the Recipe for Transformation™, the S.C.A.L.E.™ Generative Conflict Method™, and the Periodic Table of Great Culture Elements: practical guides for building inclusive, resilient workplaces.
Today, my work blends strategy, advisory, storytelling, and facilitation to help leaders reimagine what’s possible: cultures where people thrive, not just survive.
And when I’m not coaching or facilitating change, you’ll probably find me in my garden, baking a Bundt cake, planning my next scuba dive, or taking long walks with my rescue poodle Eddy nearby.
But that’s just the beginning.
The rest of my story weaves together Southern roots, lessons from leading a 35-person team across Los Angeles County, and the frameworks I’ve built to help leaders reimagine culture and conflict.
My story really starts in the American South, where my family has lived since the 1730s.
My ancestors endured enslavement, sharecropping, segregation, and eventually the fight for civil rights.
I’m part of the first generation in my family born into full legal civil rights, and yet, growing up, I still saw Confederate flags waving in small towns nearby.
That history shaped my belief that the way we treat one another—whether in our neighborhoods or our workplaces—is the foundation of justice and equity.
Before launching Wilson and Associates, I spent 15 years in the nonprofit and government world, with my focus was dismantling barriers created by racism, sexism, and classism, particularly for children and families.
But in every sector, I saw the same thing: organizations chasing impact while quietly eroding the well-being of the people doing the work. That disconnect pulled me toward culture change.
One turning point came when I managed a team of 35 people spread across Los Angeles County—the most linguistically diverse county in the U.S.
I had to learn to lead across culture, foster psychological safety, and navigate conflict before those words were mainstream.
Those lessons became the foundation for the consulting practice I run today.
Over the years, I’ve partnered with Fortune 500s, foundations, nonprofits, and government agencies to help leaders reimagine leadership and culture.
Whether in a boardroom, a retreat, or a training, my goal is the same: to create workplaces where dignity, equity, and possibility aren’t just ideas: they’re daily practices.
And because culture change doesn’t stop at the office door, I share these insights through my Recipe for Transformation podcast and my Friday newsletter, Recipe for Thriving.
Wilson and Associates provides culture transformation, conflict management, and leadership development to create high-performing workplace cultures where employees thrive.
