Blythe Landry

“Blythe gets people talking about the things they usually avoid — grief, estrangement, workplace loss and why helping can go so wrong.”

About Me

I've spent more than 25 years working with grief, trauma and the difficult conversations people often feel unprepared to have. What interests me most is not only what happens to the person in pain, but what gets activated in the person trying to help. Why do we fix, aboid, overhelp, self-disclose or say the wrong thing?

I'm a licensed clinical social worker, grief educator, trainer and author. My work has included the U.S. Coast Guard, Google Health and the Louisiana Department of Health. I'm also the founder of Grief To Purpose and author of Trauma Intelligence.

I think we've gotten too quick to turn normal human suffering into a diagnosis. Empathy matters, but empathy alone doesn't always tell us what to do next. I love conversations that are honest, practical and a little uncomfortable — the kind that make people think differently about how they show up for others.
