I majored in Music Education, taught band in podunkville, Kansas, played in Marine Corps bands for 7 years (I'm in this picture). Composed a march in the style of John Philip Sousa. Moved on to be a Cyberspace Warfare Officer. Ran an ultramarathon.
I needed something different, so I got out of the Corps and wrote and published a book. (Well, I'm still in the Reserves.) Working on the next book, and the next one, and the next.
I host the Grendhill Chronicles Podcast and I like to explore the process behind the scenes of many authors' work. I follow the flow of the conversation - it makes it interesting and we all learn something along the way.
I've either read or listened to Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkein, Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, Orson Scott Card, Cixin Liu, Pierce Brown, K.A. Applegate, and J.K. Rowling. All have influenced me in some way.
