Artist Statement

I think of my art as a collection of unfinished impressions recorded in a specific time period, which are an extension to minimalism, cubism, and visionary art. The purpose of my work is to start a conversation with other people through non-verbal, verbal, written, and visual mediums of art.

My work is influenced by personal experiences, world culture, reflections on history, concerns about the future, and issues in the world affecting the collective consciousness at large–such as war, famine, and genocide. It is an authentic commentary on the human condition, the conservation of history and the natural world, extending to the unknown universe and the exploration of consciousness.

As a multipotentialite, I communicate these concepts through the lens of photography, drawing, creative writing, and music. Appreciation for the mundane, the natural world, and what we have in the present moment is captured through my photography. Personal interpretations of addiction, mental health, and the effect of both on the human psyche are presented through psychedelic imagery in my drawings. The contributing factors of climate change and the potential threat of another extinction event caused by our failure to care for the Earth as its stewards are referenced in my poetry. Promoting individual reflection and contemplation of the universe, including our role within it, through a sense of vastness created by otherworldly sonic atmospheres in my music.

My methods of creating art are a reflection of myself and society as a whole–a mixture of chaos and order, forever trying to find a balance between the two. This includes the use of unorthodox techniques (such as bashing the keys of a piano) to compose chaotic sounding music and the use of timers to create new poems, without allowing myself to continue working on them past this point–therefore forcing me to rapidly respond and ‘let go’ of the work once the timer has ended.

Whether through performing progressive rock music or exhibiting visionary art in a gallery, my mission is to raise awareness of areas we could improve upon as a species, to provide hope to others living in a world where our attention can easily be focused on the negative, and to promote positive change, starting from our choices as individuals and working towards a shared vision between communities.

Through my body of work, I hope to promote a shift away from negative ways of thinking and help both myself and others to break free from the chains of rigidity and create a positive future–one that is still possible. I also hope to open the minds of other people to the idea that we are all connected and not separate from one another–that we are a part of something greater than ourselves as individuals.
