After studying cast-iron cookware for years, Ashley L. Jones published her debut book, Modern Cast Iron: The Complete Guide to Selecting, Seasoning, Cooking, and More (August 2020, Red Lightning Books). Although this was meant to be a complete guide (as the name suggests), Ashley realized there was a whole world out there of cast-iron restoration—and there were plenty of new manufacturers worth investigating. So in 2023, Ashley published a follow-up entitled Skilletheads: A Guide to Collecting and Restoring Cast-Iron Cookware. In this book, Ashley interviewed modern manufacturers and created a side-by-side comparison of their pans. She also interviewed cast iron restorers and learned all the details of at-home and professional restoration.
