About Me

Hi! My name is Allison Maynard, former public school teacher turned fearless education thought leader and entrepreneur.

I spent 17 years as an English and AVID teacher in the schools of Garden Grove, California.

The first 9 years of my career were spent at the high school level, and the next 8 years were spent at the junior high/middle school level.

I am intimately aware of the learning gaps in today's children, and I am on a mission to help today's parents fill in those gaps that the schools are NOT focusing on.

I knew for years that I needed to leave the field of public education; it was no place for someone like me, someone who dared to teach what the kids needed as opposed to what was mandated by the district, someone who dared to speak out when everyone else was silent, someone who knew that there had to be a better way to teach today's over-stimulated and over-programmed kiddos.

After curating my simple yet effective method of teaching, I decided to venture out and create an online course for parents teaching them how to do what I did in the classroom!

I feel like today's education system is too complex and focuses on too many things; we need to take it back to basics and establish a solid foundation for self-exploration to foster a love of curiosity and learning.

Focusing on a simple set of skills, I walk parents through HOW to teach basic skills so that their kids will be more focused, more attentive, and more successful in the classroom.

I watched for too long a system that was failing kids, parents, and teachers (including myself). And I wanted to step away and create a solution to not only help parents who want to help their kids, but also to help myself.

You see, I needed to leave my job to save my life. Not only was I being suppressed as an outstanding educator (I was almost fired after being targeted by a group of teachers in 2012), but for eight long years, I underwent three surgeries for endometriosis and fought to figure out why I had over 25 different health diagnoses.

With a myriad of health issues, spiraling mental health, lack of support by my superiors (I was once told I had to leave my mental health issues at the door!), I knew I needed a change.

Following my third surgery which sent me into surgical menopause (and, subsequently, a terrifying collapse of my mental health due to a lack of proper hormones) I was placed on medical leave, a mere 4 weeks before everything shut down due to COVID.

I never went back.

I now spend most of my time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, focusing on sharing my message that we CAN easily educate our kids, starting with the learning hacks in my online course. I also spend an equal amount of time on strengthening my own health, and I am proud to report that I am the happiest and healthiest I have ever been in my entire life. The beauty and the magic of the Baja peninsula have been crucial in my healing journey, and in the creation of this online course.

My background and credentials include:

BA - English, 2001. California State University - Fullerton (graduated cum laude).

Teaching credential, 2003. California State University - Fullerton (graduated magna cum laude).

MS - Education, 2007, California State University - Fullerton (graduated magna cum laude).

National Board Certified Teacher - 2007 - 2017. Less than 2% of the nation's teacher seek and obtain this prestigious certification.

I have also spent two summers in Nepal volunteering my time and talents training teachers. Prior to COVID, the plan was for me to move there and work on reforming the teacher training protocols for the entire country. That is still on the list, although I am unsure when I will get back there to do just that.
