“Screenwriter and Poet, Activist and Artist”
I was born into an indigenous, goat herding mountain tribe in the Himalayas in India, I've lived on the streets of Vienna, in a hippie commune on the Czech border, in a brothel in central Austria, in the hills of the Irish countryside... I've dated a Hell's Angel that was twice my age, and have survived human trafficking. I've directed films and worked with Oscar winners, I'm a mother and an activist. I run a film festival, and work with women who have survived domestic abuse, I work with diplomats and occasionally... I work at a Pizza place.
In short... It's been a bit of a wild ride.
My core belief is that I am very lucky to have lived as many different lives as I have. The lessons I've learned have been invaluable, and I've found that sharing my experiences in an open, honest, and unfiltered way has not only helped others understand where they might struggle (and how to overcome those struggles), but also cleared a path for my own healing journey.
I am lucky to have a voice, still. Many people who come through similar situations (prostitution, abuse, violence etc), do not have the opportunity to speak loudly about what it's like. I am one of the lucky ones, but I feel it's my duty to use the voice I have to raise awareness and help wherever I can.
Through poetry, writing, art, expression, and performance, I've been able to find outlets for many of the things that have happened, and I've become aware of just how survival is possible. And how it's possible to even thrive after horrific things have happened.
My main focus in my art has always been to tell authentic stories, and I've come to see that if I can embed a lot of myself, and my own story into my work, authenticity naturally follows.
