“I am not who you think I am. I reveal my authentic self in my book: "My Curious Life: If My Grandkids Ask About Me, Tell Them This."”
About 50 years after graduating college with advanced degrees in physics and engineering, Bob would describe himself as a scientist first, a secular humanist second, and one of the most curious people you might ever meet. He has an insatiable curiosity about everything in the world and he would say, the universe.
But there is more. He served as a naval officer in Admiral Rickover’s nuclear reactors program and a business leader ultimately retiring from Deloitte Consulting as a managing director. He is a world traveler, both for business and pleasure, and has accumulated millions of airline flight miles and stayed thousands of nights at a variety of hotels. He is also an “experience junkie,” loving live music, live comedy, live sports, live theater, live events, and to that end, almost anything live. On April 8, 2024, he joined Bill Nye and the Planetary Society in Fredericksburg, TX to view the total solar eclipse, his sixth.
April 8th also marked the release of his first book, a memoir, detailing what he experienced during his nearly 75 years on this earth. This collection of stories, reflections, calls to action, and hard-earned insights are in direct response to a very particular stimulus: his grandkids and the curiosity that comes so naturally to them—to all children really.
He will encourage you, during the podcast, to step into his grandchildren's shoes to hear his story. He knows what he looks like. He knows that many today would dismiss him as “just another Boomer.” He would hate to think you would do the same. His name is Bob Danna, and he is not who you think he is.
