Rachel Zinman is a passionate advocate for yoga’s true meaning and message. Practicing since 1983, teaching since 1992, and training teachers since 2000, Rachel brings over four decades of wisdom and experience to her work as a global yoga teacher, mentor, and author. She has studied with some of the most influential Western teachers, including Louisa Sear, Dena Kingsberg, Alan Finger, and Mark Whitwell, and has deeply immersed herself in the classical system of Vedanta in the lineage of Swami Dayananda.
Rachel’s expertise extends to Ayurveda, having introduced it into Virgin Active’s global yoga program and facilitated Yoga for Diabetes units in numerous teacher trainings. She also teaches on several detox retreats and is trained in Mental Health Aware Yoga, working with respite care to offer accessible, supportive practices. Her integrative teaching style weaves pranayama, asana, meditation, mudras, and mantras, drawing inspiration from Laya and Kriya Yoga traditions and the Tamil Siddha lineage.
A prolific writer, Rachel has contributed to Elephant Journal, Mind Body Green, Australian Yoga Journal, Australian Yoga Life, and Wellbeing Yoga. She is the best-selling author of Yoga for Diabetes: How to Manage Your Health with Yoga and Ayurveda. In addition, Rachel is a Kirtan and devotional music singer-songwriter, with three award-winning CDs and a new single released in 2024.
Since 2011, Rachel and her partner, Vedanta teacher John Weddepohl, have led transformative retreats worldwide, combining yoga with self-knowledge.
