“I've been making video games and board games for 15 years. My most recent card game, Compile launched in August and sold out in 3 months.”
I spend my days making and talking about games. I've contributed to projects large and small in a variety of roles: programmer, architect, designer, writer, analyst, producer, researcher, and lead. And after 15 years in the industry I still enjoy being surprised by the medium and love helping amateurs break in. I grew up on a wide variety FPS's, RTS's, dueling card games, and MMO's at varying levels of tryhard but appreciate anything that encourages experiment and expression. I have a strong sense for what makes games tick and I love talking about it. Play is critical to all people and I hope to support the search for authentic play experiences for the rest of my life.
I'm currently developing a free to play mobile game as well as another board game. These 2 projects take up the majority of my work time; the rest of it being spent on mentoring and community engagement. Outside of games, I enjoy cooking, SCUBA diving, writing, and playing games.
I look forward to engaging, longform conversation. Bonus points if there are specific problems to solve. My perfect podcast appearance would be dissecting a game that exists in the market: what works, why, what doesn't work, why, and then using those ideas as prompts for further developing a game that has started to take form.
