As a Local girl to the Big Island of Hawai’i and a native Hawaiian born and raised here in the islands, Lailan Bento brings with her a participant perspective of all things Hawai’i. As a tenured real estate agent, Broker and co-founder of her own Brokerage, Hawai’i Development Group, Lailan has experienced business in Hawai’i first-hand, what it’s like to shatter the glass ceiling for women in business and the nuances Hawai’i has a different environment than that of any other part of the world.
The purpose of Lailan providing insight through this podcast is to discuss being a woman in business, a woman creating, running and owning a business and how Hawai’i’s differences in politics and economics intertwine daily. Hawai'i is a unique environment from our archipelago's history, to our demographic ethnic lineage back to several versions of Hawai'i, to the way we operate in the modern world in concert with the past and like our natural climate here in the islands, Hawai'i is just a different place than most. Hawai'i and all of its beauty is something many do not realize is truly hidden in plain sight between the native Hawaiian culture our Hawai'i Development Group knows far too well being a native Hawaiian owned company, the Local culture that creates the surface layer of our way of life and the way we operate under the aloha spirit as we are islands truly isolated from the nearest land mass.
