“Social technopreneur on a mission to help rid 73% of the world population of the severe censorship to which they're subject.”
I'm the founder of Relaycorp, a company that received more than $750k from American taxpayers to build Awala, a computer network that enables people to bypass Internet blackouts imposed by their governments or as a consequence of armed conflicts. Ethiopia, Gaza, Kashmir, Iran, Myanmar, Sudan, and many other places are or have been subject to such blackouts in recent times.
I conceived Awala at the University of Oxford and founded Relaycorp to oversee the project.
We're now working on extending Awala to circumvent all forms of Internet censorship, with our focus being on the Great Firewall of China using a novel technology that I invented, and whose prototype has already been tested successfully in China. We're starting with China because it's by far the most sophisticated censorship apparatus, so if we succeed there, we will succeed everywhere else.
Prior to Relaycorp, I worked in the core engineering team at leading cybersecurity startup Auth0, which was responsible for the company's flagship product.
I host the Inside Awala podcast to tell the story behind Awala.
Please note that I'm only looking for audio-only shows as I don't show my face in public.
Awala® is the all-in-one app to bypass Internet censorship caused by governments, foreign militaries, and civil wars.
