Gallagher Green

I am a novelist who primarily writes stories with 2SLGBTQIA+ community representation through the main characters or side characters. My goal in all my writing is to help readers who feel like they aren't generally represented in media feel seen and to give them characters they can relate to. I also include unconventional relationships like Platonic Life Partners (PLP) to help bring more normalcy and acceptance, along with other lifestyles.

Having been born and raised in rural Kansas, USA. I found myself on the outside of those around me, only discovering later in life—through fiction novels—the reasons why I always felt I was on the outside. As a non-binary person on the Ace and autism spectrum, I can now look back and see this is why I never fit the conservative culture around me. But this has given me a unique perspective on the world around me that translates into my writing. I learned how to kindle deep friendships and like-minded groups of creatives around the world, and I try to pass this on to others who might struggle with the feeling of being out of place.

As a child, I had extreme difficulties learning to read, not even reading my first novel until my mid-twenties, so I understand the struggles of creative endeavors, and that it doesn't always come easy or early in life. I try to always encourage others when I see an unignited passion in them because it was only after the encouragement of a near stranger who believed in my ability as a storyteller that I started writing. I want to pass that down to others, encouraging them in the same way.

Experience

I have experience in public speaking, and with over 1100 videos on TikTok and Instagram, I am very comfortable speaking to people about my writing, my journey as an author, creativity, using art to heal, or nearly anything else.

With a background deeply rooted in conceptual fine art photography, I have years of experience talking with other artists and creatives about the struggles of being an artist, discussing imposter syndrome, creative blocks, where to start, how to inspire others, using art and writing to help with mental health, and how creating can lead to great self-discovery.

Talking about how storytelling through art of all forms can change our lives is one of my greatest passions. I strongly advocate for the power a fictional story can have on people, that they are more than just entertainment. From my own experiences learning about myself through the stories of other authors to readers telling me they never knew they could have relationships like those I depict in my writing.
