I am a mother, educator, and psychologist who works with primarily children, adolescents, and families. In my world of work, I have a focus on the impact of trauma and how families and communities can best prevent and respond to traumas faced by our youth, both within the US and abroad. Systemic, community wide change is the only way things like child exploitation will ever be eradicated. Great people and organizations are doing amazing things with limited support; if we can bridge the gaps between these individuals and groups, we can see true, long lasting impacts. This outside of the box, community and culturally nuanced and informed thinking, highlight my general approach to both direct care and program development.
I also homeschool my children (3 girls and a boy between the ages of 10 and 14) and experience the deep joy and scathing frustrations that come with having that kind of responsibility on a near daily basis. We have a mini hobby farm and try to live our values daily. They are also a very active part of the work I do in the community, assisting in planning, writing resources, and training law enforcement.
