“Certified matchmaker~Creating space for young Black people to connect socially & romantically~Determined to close the wealth & marriage gap.”
A major shift is happening within the Black community. The state of Black families, marriages, and opportunities for wealth creation is at a critical crossroads. The recent pandemic, online dating apps rooted in bias, and evolving cultural norms have only amplified the challenges we are already facing. Thus, it has become increasingly difficult for young Black Americans to form meaningful, lifelong, robust relationships with one another.
In 2021, inspired to find ways to address the problem, I became a certified matchmaker and founded DOTTIE, a concierge matchmaking service and private social club for young Black professionals in their 20s and 30s. Over the years, I have developed a diverse network of valuable connections and lasting friendships throughout my personal and professional journey. After graduating from Howard University with a degree in Business Administration, I spent more than a decade in sales and marketing at Procter & Gamble and Honeywell. I have spent the last 25 years building a family with my husband and two children, and dedicating my time to philanthropic work in my communities.
As my children have grown into young adults and navigated their own personal, social, and professional journeys, my desire to help young people and to emphasize the importance of building strong Black families grew even stronger. I am excited to make these critical links for the Black community, connecting all of the dots in their lives. I genuinely believe these relationships are essential for career, community, and personal success - successes I believe young Black professionals unequivocally deserve.
DOTTIE is named after my mother, Dorothy. She was an active pursuer of Black rights, a respected member of her Atlanta community, and a loving mother and grandmother. We named DOTTIE after her to honor her memory, but also because she represented all of the values this organization holds dear.
