Most people are curious about & want to know why their body is the shape it is. Too many still falsely believe that the only body type options are the arbitrary, subjective, baseless, unscientifically debunked body types including the somatypes/three body types - endomorph, ectomorph, mesomorph - and hormone body types, Kibbe body types, triangle body types, 10 body types, etc.

According to mainstream science & medical doctors, the 3 currently accepted body type standards are:

Standard #1: The Standard Scientific Human Body Anatomy Book Body Type One (BT1) found in any scientifically accepted human body anatomy book

Standard #2: Body Mass Index (BMI) 

Standard #3: Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) – the bare minimum number of calories your body requires for basic survival functioning each day.

When you go to have your regular doctor checkup, those are the standards by which you are being held to determine whether or not you are healthy & "normal".

Yet, all 3 of those standards are inaccurate:

#1: The Standard Scientific Human Body Anatomy Book Body Type One (BT1) is not accurate because, genetically, it is a fact that any part of the human body can be underdeveloped or undeveloped, to whatever degree.

#2: BMI is not accurate because, genetically, skinny fat (cellulite, thin fat, loose/saggy skin, crepey skin, normal weight obesity) is real & exists in place of where there should be muscles/mass. As well, it is possible to have excess muscle mass on your body which would put you in the overweight or obese column of your BMI weight range, but because you do not have excess fat/too much fat on your body, you are not overweight or obese.

#3: BMR is not accurate because, metabolically, the scientifically calculated standard Mifflin St Jeor & Harris-Benedict equations for activity do not take into account skinny fat. Science recognizes that 1 pound of muscle burns 6 calories daily, but 1 pound of fat/skinny fat only burns 2 to 3 calories, which directly affects metabolism. The more skinny fat you have on your body, the more negatively your metabolism is affected, the less accurate your BMR calculations are, & thus the fewer calories your body actually needs daily.
